Stroll Through Saratoga’s Secret Gardens with Soroptimists

Looking for some inspiration for your garden? This year’s garden tour, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Saratoga County, takes place Sunday, July 7th and celebrates 25 years of the Secret Garden Tour.

The tour is an opportunity to visit some of the most stunning gardens in the area. But it is also a chance to support the good work done by the all- female club, which is part of a global organization of more than 80,000 women in 130 countries.

Founded in 1921, the mission of Soroptimists is to “improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.” Since it began in Saratoga Springs in 1979, the Saratoga club has raised funds for both community-based and global projects that benefit women and girls.

I am proud to be part of this group of dynamic and energetic women, who give their time and resources to this worthwhile mission. Our signature project, “Project Hope and Power,” is a joint effort between Soroptimists and Wellspring, a local organization that helps women who are victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Monies raised from the Secret Garden Tour will go toward this and other yearly initiatives adopted by the club.

If you missed the article in Simply Saratoga magazine describing the work of Soroptimists and showcasing some of the gardens we will visit in July, you can see it here (https://issuu.com/saratogapublishing/docs/simplyh_g2019issuu?e=2012074/69920950)
